Key Elements

In order to conform to the expectations of the genre of the song, the audience I expect and what is expected of a video:
- intertextuality: Fast and Furious (See You Again)
- two different social groups: girls and boys
- two different locations: car and beach and petrol station
- range of camera shots
- appropriate editing techniques for the pop genre: fast jump-cuts 
- graphics/titles including the name of the track and artist
- performative element to communicate meaning to the audience 
- narrative element to communicate meaning to the audience

THE TRACK: Lean On - Major Lazer featuring MØ and DJ Snake I chose this song due to it's high energy and popularity.  Originally I was torn between this song and 'I'll Show You' by Justin Bieber, however after doing some research I found that 'Lean On' was the most popular choice which would allow for a better reception to the music video. 'Lean On' is a very upbeat song and due to this it will allow me to choose from a range of ideas that I have to create with this song as it is so diverse. Letter to the label concerning copyright. Dear Sir, Madam I'm writing to seek permission to use the song 'Lean On' by Major Lazer featuring MØ and DJ Snake in my A-level media coursework.  I have been tasked with inventing a fictional record label that are to produce a 3-minute music video to any pop song of my choice and this is the song that I have chosen due to its incredible reception and popularity.  The video itself, when completed will be published to a private YouTube channel that only my teachers, peers and examiners can view.  Due to the copyright on this song, I’m seeking permission from Mad Decent, the label that created this song, in order for me to use it in my coursework. The Perfect Audience Member The perfect audience member for 'Lean On' would b e described as a fun-loving 16–25 year old individual, common to the mass market demographic. They are the type of person to be described as a 'styler', 'rah', or a 'ghetto goth' which are represented in the pictures below. They're typically going to be seen in fairly trendy/common clothes as they try to fit in with large social groups which is represented by the way they listen to mainstream songs like 'Lean On' as everyone knows the song due to it's popularity being a mainstream song and therefor allows them to engage with a diverse range of people.
